How sld i start? Tis yr, canoeing n dragonboat did v well for x-country. We got double champions for both guys n gers.
I was there to support em wif yosep n xp. Guys' race started first. Their spirits were very high n they did a "last cheer" at e starting line. E gers were quiet n anxiety were shown on their faces. Minutes b4 their race, i had a talk wif em, hoping dat it can calm em down. Luckily many of em were smiling after a talk, n looked much more relaxed. I I walked e gers to e starting line. Wa... they sure looked nervous. Many of em looked at mi wif a tis-time-sure-die look, so i tried to give em a nod n a reassuring smile.
Actually, i feel nervous for my juniors. Haha... (ask xp n yosep) We all strained our necks when e first guy came. He's from track, n he's real FAST. =0 I almost hear my heart thumping when i saw shi hong. Our hero!! He's 2nd!!! Wow... he's as fast as lightning man. N den che siang came!!! He's really impressive, coz he managed to outshine e beta ones, coming in 4th. *10 cheers* Wai leong: 6th, khairy: 8th, Shi jie: 12th, n rui jie: 20th... (positions roughly there). I was very very impressed wif our captain cos he came in top 20, despite his injury. After he finished his race for some time, he saw mi coming n he shouted "weijia! I didn't let u down!!" Omg... i was v touched. Wad great spirit, don't u think? When he said dat, he muz haf given all dat he has, n he didn't let himself down.
I was looking out for e gers, den e 1st ger came. B-ball ger. -_- But i muz say dat she's fast. Michelle's genes... Jia Ying(las yr 4th) came in 2nd. Den i suddenly v scared. Canoeing gers leh??! Den i saw someone in bai zhou!!! Karene!!!! Omg... cheered her on n she sprinted all e way...3rd. =D Yeah!! Xueli soon came n took 4th. Sijie clinched 6th, weiqi-8th, pohsi-10th, cindy-12th(i think) n yingsing-19th... Dey all sprinted all e way down to e finishing pt, overtaking as many as they could.Can see dat e canoeists fought hard for this race.They led by many pts partly coz competion not stiff. Their faces were dat of 'i-muz-do-my-best' expression. I kept telling xp, yosep dat i'm happy we got e championship is not cos we won other ccas. It's bcos they haf finally come back to us after 5 yrs... When i became female cap in yr 1, i made tis as one of my team goals "clinch x-country championship... get back wad belong to us rightfully..." but i failed. Finally, today, my wish came true. =)
From michelle huang:"it's funny how seniors can get more excited den juniors." She muz b thinking dat i feel happy winning her cca. But e qn is, who cares abt dat? I more proud of e fact dat this is another proud moment of ny canoeing. Heard dat, michelle? As long as my juniors give all out, it's enuff. I thought dat as a leader, one sld be more concerned abt e standard of e team rather den solo perforamce. To quote pei lin, "win wif humility n lose graciously if team faces defeat". How true... Proud ppl can neva gain respect from others.
